About This Festival

About the Event

Holy Name Oktoberfest is the parish festival at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church & School in Beech Grove, on Indianapolis's south side. It runs two nights — Friday, September 25 and Saturday, September 26, 2026 — from 5:00 PM to midnight both evenings, and admission is free.

The food is cooked by parish families: brats, schnitzel, warm pretzels, sauerkraut, and strudel, served alongside a Latino taco tent. Proceeds from the festival support Holy Name Catholic School.

Activities & Attractions

Food and the beer garden. German dishes prepared by parish families share the grounds with a Latino taco tent. Food runs on tickets, with everything priced at five tickets or fewer. The beer garden pours regular beer at $5, wine by the glass, and a wine slush, plus craft pints from Saint Benedict's Brew Works. A souvenir stein is $12 and comes with $10 refills all weekend.

Live music — four bands across two nights. Friday opens with Monarch, a Central Indiana classic rock and country band that has been playing out for more than thirty years, followed by headliner The Woomblies, an Indy institution since 2000 playing classic rock and Motown. Saturday opens with the Rick Utterback Band and closes with 3rd Generation, a versatile Indy dance band with a standout horn section.

Trivia Live. Hosted by Challenge Entertainment in the cafeteria from 9:00 to 10:00 PM, both nights.

Kids zone. Indoors in the gym, with a magic show, a dirty soda bar, and a roped-off toddler area. A $10 wristband covers all activities. Younger children typically wrap up around 9:00 PM, and 9:00–10:00 PM is a teens-only hour, with a game area in the cafeteria during teen hours.

Health fair. Friday evening.

The Big Ticket Raffle. The $15,000 grand prize is drawn Saturday night. Tickets are $100 and only 1,000 are sold, with four $250 early bird drawings along the way.
