History and Founding:
Pioneer Village was founded by Mauri Williamson, an agricultural preservationist born on a livestock farm in Indiana. It began as a way to preserve and interpret Indiana’s agricultural history and traditional pioneer life through live demonstrations and authentic displays. It has become a permanent fixture at the Indiana State Fair, drawing thousands annually and managed with support from the Purdue Agricultural Alumni Association.
