About This Festival
The 68th Annual Talbot Street Art Fair is Indiana's oldest juried art fair, held in Indianapolis on Talbot Street between 16th and 21st Streets in the Herron-Morton Place neighborhood. It takes place June 21-22, 2025, with free admission from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. The fair features over 220 artists showcasing a mix of local and national work, attracting approximately 60,000 visitors.
The event's vibe is vibrant and community-centered, blending historic charm with lively arts and crafts. It provides family-friendly activities such as children's face painting, pottery making, and coloring floral compositions. Food vendors are present, and the event is handicap accessible, fostering an inclusive atmosphere.
Historically, the fair was founded in 1956 with only 15 artists and about 1,500 visitors. Its name reflects the original spelling of Talbott Street, with one "T" at the end, retained for tradition despite the street’s current spelling with two "T"s. The fair’s origins are tied to the Herron-Morton area and figures like Mae Wright Sewell, an early supporter of the Indianapolis Art Association and women's suffrage. The area itself holds historical significance due to early 20th-century arts patronage and neighborhood development.
